CCB use in ACS

Page history last edited by jamesbond 11 years, 8 months ago

When are CCBs (verapamil, diltiazem) the answer for Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS)?

Cannot take beta-Blockers: the Pt has intolerance to beta-Blockers, such as severe reactive airway disease (asthma).

Cocaine-induced chest pain.

Coronary vasospasm / Prinzmetal's angina.

or better yet, use mnemonic CCB

C - Cocaine-induced chest pain

C - Coronary vasospasm/Prinzmetal's angina (young pt, occurs at night etc)

B - Beta blockers don't work or contraindicated

@jamesbond: actually I like your edit. The mnemonic can graduate and be added to the official mnemocine.net. What do you think?
